Wings
"Wings marks a return to the traditional values found in the theater but in an entirely new way," said show director and Quest founder and president Tim McCarty. "What we have done with Wings is to use the actor as the primary vehicle and primary vessel on stage for the material, rather than rely on the technology of theater…all in a setting accessible to both hearing and deaf audiences. This is groundbreaking theater." Wings is an ensemble production, using a mixed cast of deaf and hearing actors. The show explores the human fascination with flight and celebrates the resilient nature of the human spirit when confronted with death. The production reflects Quest’s commitment to creating, producing, presenting and supporting theater that stems from a visual base and is accessible to all audiences. Quest’s production of Wings has played before appreciative audiences in both the United States and Europe. The show has been a highlight of the European Deaf Theater Festival and Conference in Vienna, the 2003 Edinburgh Festival Fringe, and recent performances in the Czech Republic. Its performance schedule for 2004 includes appearances in Poland and Iceland and return engagements in Austria and the Czech Republic. Wings was presented at the 2003 Edinburgh Festival Fringe by Quest Productions in conjunction with Demarco Rocket Productions, headed by Richard Demarco, co-founder of Edinburgh's Traverse Theatre and one of Europe’s leading theatrical impresarios.
