Australian Tour Journal

Saturday, January 15
Our last performance was this morning! We were all anxious for it to be done but at the same time kind of sad about it being over too. It was a good performance with a very enthusiastic crowd. Afterwards, we packed up our costumes, took a flurry of photos with fans and crew members and hurried out for our last day to see Melbourne.

Several of us took a tram out to St. Kilda led by Jen (you may not recognize Jen from the photo below--she was one of the big mascot hands in the opening ceremony), and on the recommendation of Patrick (our light board operator), went to a place called Greasy Joe's for lunch. This place was unbelievable! The food...well, these burgers were incredible! Just look at the picture.

Stuffed, we took a stroll along the main part of St. Kilda which is lined with more cafes, stores, and shops. So when the going gets tough, the tough go shopping! We split up and headed into different stores, all looking for that one special item.

We took a tram back to the city. Some went to meet some of the USA athletes and some (me) went back to the apartment. I spent an hour trying to pack all my things PLUS the new purchases into the suitcase. It's rough.

Tonight, there is a big farewell party for everybody at one of the bars in Federation Square. Should be a blast, but I expect it will be sad too. This will probably be the last update. Tomorrow we will be back on a plane...some of us making our way home to DC and others continuing their travel adventures around other parts of Australia and New Zealand.

It's been great fun sending you these updates. I hope you' ve enjoyed being able to see a little bit of our experience day-to-day.

G'day mates!
