Mike
is reprising his role as Grandpop and is delighted to be performing in
yet another Quest production. He first appeared in "The
Water Falls" as part of the New York Deaf Theatre premier of
the play at the Chelsea Playhouse in NYC. Mike also appeared in a Quest
production
of Willy Conley's "The Fallout Shelter" when it won
the top award at the Very Special Arts playwright festival. Mike was
also seen recently as a member of the ensemble in the Arena Stage production
of The Miracle Worker. Mike has been active
as an actor and interpreter in the Washington theater scene for many
years and looks forward to many more. Mike is also a Licensed Professional
Counselor and Hypnotherapist who has a private practice in Alexandria,
VA. He wants to thank Tim McCarty for his support and especially his
partner Michael for putting up with his schedule.
Michael
Harper has been acting professionally for the past twenty years. A graduate
of the Ohio State University and the American Academy of Dramatic Arts
in New York, his stage experience encompasses off-off Broadway, dinner
theatre, university theatre, and regional theatre, including The
Contemporary American Theatre Company, of which he is a founding member.
A sampling of the plays he has done includes "Children of a
Lesser God," "Arsenic and Old Lace," "Glengarry
Glen Ross," "Measure for Measure," and half the cast
of both "Greater Tuna" and "A
Tuna Christmas." Locally, he has performed for the Theatre of the
First Amendment’s First Light New Play Festival, and at Gallaudet
University Theatre, both as a voice actor and director of the voice ensemble
for such plays as "Lysistrata," "Vignettes
of the Deaf Character," and "The Boys Next Door." Michael shares life
with his wife, Martha, and their son Christopher.
Donna is thrilled to be a part of “The
Water Falls” cast since her last stage appearance in 1998. She
is Associate Deaf Access Director for Imagination Stage of Bethesda,
Maryland. She has worked extensively with many renowned deaf theater
artists, including Eric Malzkuhn, Gil Eastman, Iosif Schneiderman and
Willy Conley. She established the position of Visual Dramaturg for the
Deaf Access Program for Imagination Stage, working to enhance the visual
aspects of all Deaf Access productions. She has also worked as a Sign
Master for Imagination Stage since 1993, for productions, special events,
and the USA Network’s television documentary It Just Takes One.
She has served as professional Sign Master for the Shakespeare Theatre,
Kennedy Center and Arena Stage in Washington, D.C. As a faculty member
of Imagination Stage, Ms. Salamoff teaches theatre arts for young deaf
children as well as deaf awareness workshops for hearing students with
the educational theater programs. She would like to thank her friend,
Lisa for all of her support. Her love and thanks also goes to her husband,
Steven and children Scott and Robyn for their continued encouragement
and tremendous support as she pursues her passion for the arts.
Andres' acting credits include appearing in a Levi Strauss jeans
commercial in
South Africa, performing in the Rathskellar touring
company, and Gallaudet University's Goya en la Quinta del Sordo which
premiered last winter and was also a part of the Deaf Way II International
Arts Festival. I want to say thanks to Tim McCarty and Mike Lamitola
for everything. I have really enjoyed very much being a part of
this production with the cast and crew. I want to say thanks
to my father who is coming here to see me for the first time. Alicia
has been very supportive and helpful all the way, and I am grateful to
have her. "Good things will come to those
who wait".
