ArtsBridge Pittsburgh

Week 8

This week, Artsbridge Pittsburgh kicked into high gear with the arrival of Quest Teaching Artist and Artsbridge Coordinator, Monique Holt, and members of the Quest Wings Company to WPSD. WPSD drama students participated in a master class with Quest company members and the company also attended an evening rehearsal of the students—working one on one with them as they continued to develop scenes dealing with the topic of difference. Quest gave two performances of Mosaic—one for the community, and one for WPSD upper school students (which was also attended by students from Clarion High School). Each performance was followed by a facilitated post-show discussion and WPSD drama students had the opportunity to have lunch and further talk with company members about the devising process. The Quest Company also performed, Road Signs, for both the WPSD Lower School and Word of God Elementary (Word of God has an ongoing partnership with WPSD)—where they had the opportunity to visit classrooms and speak with students and staff. The Wings Company departed Pittsburgh after three exciting days of outreach to WPSD and Pittsburgh community. Monique Holt will stay on for the remainder of the project—working directly with the high school drama students as they continue to devise their piece, and leading specialized workshops with selected WPSD students.
