Information: The
Theatre Arts Department seeks candidates for a full-time tenure-track
faculty position for the 2005-2006 academic year. This contract is renewable
based on annual evaluations. Rank is dependent on qualifications. Appointment
date: August 16, 2005. Position contingent on funding. Qualifications: A
terminal degree in the technical theatre arts or allied field. Candidates
should have prior teaching experience and prior experience and creative
activity and/or research in technical theatre arts. Candidates should
show a strong commitment to students and offer quality teaching and advising,
scholarship, and service. Candidates should be fluent in American Sign
Language or willing to become fluent in American Sign Language. Responsibilities: As
a faculty member of the Theatre Arts Department, the responsibilities
include: teaching technical theatre courses including Introduction to
Theatre, Theatre History, Fundamentals of Stage Lighting, Theatre Production
and Management, and Fundamentals of Stagecraft, as well as supervising
the labs related to these courses. Candidates should be willing to direct
a production every two years. Faculty are expected to engage in scholarship
and creative activity, as well as participate in service activities to
the department, university, and community. The faculty member will participate
in pre-production planning as it pertains to all elements of the scenic
and lighting designs. Faculty will be expected to generate graphic documents
used for the estimating of time and materials costs related to the creation
of designs. Carefully oversees the construction of the design. The faculty
member will provide information on materials, suppliers, and new applications
of old or stock materials. The faculty member will be responsible for
overseeing the maintenance of stage, theatre, scene shop equipment and
building; oversees the production through the technical/dress rehearsal
process. The faculty member will be responsible for maintaining the show
during the run of the production. Plans, builds, and tests special effects.
Coordinates scenery with the necessities of lighting and sound design. Application Deadline: March

Assistant to the Vice President, Affiliate & Education
Services
Salary: $31,512
The Assistant to the Vice President, Affiliate and Education Services
provides project tracking and coordination support to the Affiliate and
Education Services department, as well as administrative support and
correspondence management for the Vice President. This position
reports directly to the Vice President, Affiliate and Education Services.
Position responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Maintains the Vice President's calendar and organize meetings.
Oversees general communications for the VP, including managing incoming
and outgoing correspondence, drafting/disseminating written correspondence,
processing daily mail, and preparing and reconciling financial paperwork.
Maintains departmental paper and electronic files.
Makes travel arrangements and prepares itineraries, background materials,
expense reports and follow-up correspondence for VP’s travel.
Acts as liaison between VP and Affiliate and Education Services department
by organizing staff meetings, providing administrative support for
initiatives, and collecting time sheets.
Provides project coordination and tracking for activities and initiatives
under the Affiliate and Education Services focus areas of affiliate
relations, professional development, and research.
Coordinates departmental calendar and timelines relating to programmatic
initiatives.
Other duties as necessary to meet the goals and objectives of the
department.
Desired Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and at least
3 years administrative experience preferred. Equivalent education and
experience will be considered. Excellent writing/communication,
editing and organizational skills; proficiency in Macintosh systems,
Internet applications, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Filemaker Pro; ability
to work well under pressure, strong teamwork ethic; ability to handle
a number of tasks simultaneously; and experience handling confidential
information. Background in disability/non-profits a plus. Initiative,
positive attitude, and flexibility necessary. Must be legally authorized
to work in the U.S.
